BOOKINGS

To enquire or make a camping booking, send an email to fun@maroondam.com.au with the following details:

  • Dates of stay
  • Number of guests
  • Preferred area (Billabong or Maroon Cove)
  • Phone number

Advance bookings are advisable: we try to give our camping guests large camp sites and plenty of space.  Every long weekend and holiday period we usually turn away many people.  This is because we seek to avoid overcrowding of the camp sites.

Our camp-sites are much larger than city camp sites.  Each site can easily accommodate two to three families.

We have two camping areas at Lake Maroon Camping Ground: Billabong and Maroon Cove.

BILLABONG CAMPING AREA

  • Bushland setting, shade from the gum trees, close to amenities. No view of the Lake
  • Powered (4 sites only) and unpowered. Large sites
  • Close to toilets and showers
  • Short 400 m drive or walk down to Lakeside day area
  • Dogs allowed – 2 per site – must be on a leash or lead at all times. All damages or injuries caused by pets are at the owners liability.
  • Fires allowed in fire pits only
  • Generators allowed 8am – 8pm – must be the modern silent running variety

MAROON COVE CAMPING AREA

  • Large sites (upto 10 – 12 people)
  • Views overlooking the lake from most sites, no shade, unpowered only
  • Toilets only (showers can be used at Billabong area)
  • Short walk down to Lakeside day area
  • Dogs allowed – 2 per site – must be on a leash or lead at all times. All damages or injuries caused by pets are at the owners liability.
  • Fires allowed in fire pits only

Vista View – part of Maroon Cove. A secluded ledge with stunning views of the lake. Two sites only. This area is accessed by 4WD only. In wet conditions, vista View may be shut down at management discretion.

Powered sites are not available in the Maroon Cove and Vista View areas, but generators may be used 8am – 8pm (provided they are of the modern silent running variety).

GENERAL

There is no lakeside camping anywhere at Maroon Dam. Our property is 100m back from the water.

This short video shows the different camping areas as well as homesteads and cabin. (Facebook link)

Camp fires are permitted, but fires must only be lit inside the fire rim provided.  All camp sites have a fire rim or fire drum.  Firewood can either be purchased $15.00 a bag from the kiosk or purchased from roadside stalls as you drive along Burnett Creek Road towards our park. Chopping down of trees within the camping ground is strictly prohibited.

Camper trailers and caravans must bring their own water. There is some onsite water available.

CAMPING RATES

  • Unpowered sites (Maroon Cove & Billabong) – $25 per person per night.
  • Powered sites  (Billabong only) – $30 per adult per night and $20 for children under the age of 12 years.
  • Vista View (unpowered) – $30 per person per night.
  • All campsites: $15 per night per child (aged 3-12 years). Under 3 years old are free.

If you want a particular camp site:

When you are making a booking for an unpowered camp site, you can request the camp site you want. We will do our best to meet your request.

However, the allocation of camp sites is ALWAYS PROVISIONAL only.   The final allocation of camp sites will be made just prior the date you are due to arrive.  The allocation of camp sites is dependent upon considerations such as weather, the condition of the grass, and when other guests are due to arrive and depart, etc.  Larger camp sites are obviously allocated to larger parties.  We will tell you what camp site you have been allocated when you check-in, and we will direct you to your camp site.

We generally allocate the more sought after camp sites to guests staying for a longer period.

DAY RATES
Rates for non-guests seeking to use our lakeside beach area are $10.00 per head.   This entitles members of the public to set up a day tent on the beach, to launch their boat, swim, etc, and to generally enjoy the lake environment.  In addition, the day rate fee entitles non-guests to use our toilets, showers and the other facilities such as the kiosk for ice purchase, drinks , etc.

CANCELLATIONS & REFUNDS:

We have a strictly “NO REFUND” policy for cancellations for bookings which have been made for the School Holidays, Christmas period, the Easter period, and public holiday weekends. Outside of Christmas, Easter, and public holidays, where a booking is to be cancelled, a credit may be given depending upon the circumstances. Monies paid for bookings are not refundable. Notification of a cancellation should be sent via email. Changes in weather or changes in events to be held will not be regarded as a legitimate reason for a refund or credit.

Our personal commitment to our guests is that we will strive to ensure our guests receive a high quality and personal service, that our guests have enjoyed the experience and want to come back and visit us again.
